HAPPY HOWLIDAYS

Hello!

Today I'm here again with another Lawnfawnatics challenge. That's why I'm writing in English again.

Well, let’s move ahead to the topic of today. It's challenge #153 - Christmas in July. I admit it's a bit hard to find Christmas spirit in the middle of the summer. But since the weather here, on the west coast in Sweden, is more like our winters, just slightly warmer, right now I felt I had to give it a try.

Oh my! I have really struggled with this theme. I normally don't do a lot of Christmas cards, so I don't have a lot of Christmas stamps, but I found two very old ones from Lawn Fawn. So, I went ahead and stamped them up. While they were drying I, accidently 😉, surfed in to one of my favorite shops to look around a little. I ended up ordering Lawn Fawn items for a whole lot of money, but still no Christmas stamps. So, when I was coloring my stamped images the following day, I decided to shop a little more in that store and this time I ended up with three Christmas stamp set's. So today I'm showing a card using one of those stamp set's; Furry and Bright. I think this is my absolute favorite of my Christmas stamps. But I also realize that I need to do some more shopping for Lawn Fawn stamps and dies. I am so totally addicted 😍

Now, this is the card:

Sorry for the bad pictures, but I was shooting the photos late last night and the light was really, really bad.

As I said, I was really struggling with the theme, and I think I did five (!) Christmas cards before this one. But, when I looked at the cards that I’ve allready made, I did not have that wow! - feeling. I decided to skip the Christmas cards and challenge and just do an ordinary birthday card instead. But I couldn't resist to color some more of the Furry and Bright stamps and suddenly I had made a Christmas card. Just like that! Now I can participate in the challenge after all. And in addition to that I also have six Christmas cards to send to family and friends.

Here’s some details from the card:

This puppy just wants the bone, with the golden tie, on the top.
I put the puppy on foam dots to raise him up from the background a little.

This little one is just happy with his bone, that he got from Santa Claus.
Even this puppy, and the bone, is raised from the background with foam dots.

This little mischievous one has just snitched the lights from the Christmas tree. He is also raised with foam dots.

All papers, accept the Ivory colored, the red and the darkest green cardstock, is from Lawn Fawn: cream Sprinkle’n shine (back and front), Woodgrain cardstock – Neutrals. I don’t remember the color of the green cardstock I’ve used for the frame, but I bought in a package of five or ten papers.
The stamp set I’ve used is all from Lawn Fawn – Furry and Bright, accept one stamp, the one in the bottom of the pile of presents. It’s from another set – Cheery Christmas.
I hope I won’t get disqualified for using dies from other brands, but the frame and twig dies are from Wish, I think (🙈), and the poinsettia die is from Kaisercraft.
I’ve colored my stamps with Promarkers. I also used Glossy accent on the lightbulbs and some white gel pen, from Sakura, to highlight some parts of the puppies, bones and presents.

If I ever get a puppy, I really want a dachshund. They are so damn (sorry!) cute. But I probably never ever get a dog. My youngest son got a dog about a year ago, and I have realized that I am a true cat person. Cats never do as they’re told and as far as they know, you are their servants. I love that personality. When it’s about cats at least. People should never be like cats 😉

Here at the west coast, we can look forward to some more rain for the next couple of days. I’m not really that sad about the bad weather. That means I can craft even more. How great isn’t that? But it would be nice to see the sun a little before I begin to work soon. Well, the weather isn’t anything you can control. It will be what it will be.

Despite the weather situation all over the world, I hope you all have a great afternoon, at least here in Europe it’s afternoon, and a nice evening.

See you!

Jeanette

Lawn Fawnatics color challenge

Hello again!

It has been a while since last I was here, but life has come in between. Today I’m writing in english and that feels a bit akward. The reason to that is that I’m going to participate the challenge over at LawnFanatics and I believe that it will be a bit easier for everyone to understand what I’ve done for those who are interested to hop over here to my blog. Since it’s not my native language I geuss there will be some spelling and gramatical issues and I apologize for that in advance. With that said, let’s move on to my reason for todays blog post.

The challenge at Lawn Fanatics is about colors and they are some of my favourite colors. My only problem was to pick out wich die I was going to use. I really don’t own that many Lawn Fawn dies yet, but I’m working on it. At last I picked the Magic Iris Floral Wreath Add-On and also the Magic Iris Scalloped Add-On. I absolutely love that you can use them all together and also without the Magic Iris. It’s still beautiful. This time I chose to color the floral wreath and the flowers with my alcohol markers to try to catch the colors that’s in the challenge. I hope I succeeded with that.
Then I had a big struggle to find the right papers. I don’t have that many dies, but the amount of papers are even poorer. But I ended up with two papers that I’ve had in my stash for a couple of years now. I really love my papers and I almost cry when I have to cut them apart 😉 I believe many of you scrapper’s can relate to that. But I did cut them up and now I have to buy some new ones. Nothing bad that doesn’t have something good in it 😄

Allmost all things I’ve used for this card is from Lawn Fawn, accept the die GRATTIS (congratulations) and the stamp inside the card. I hope I don’t get disqualified for that but I never have had the need for those dies and stamps in english before. And I didn’t have time to buy them either so I ended up using my swedish ones and hope that will be okay. All I used is listed down below. Here is the result of my take on the challenge:

The stamp means "Have a wonderful birthday"

It's a bit hard to see, but I've put the scalloped circle on black foam dots. The middle part is lying flat to the background.

Now I’ll keep my fingers crossed that I “win” the challenge but the competition is hard so I don’t think I will have a chance. And it doesn’t really matter because I had a good time making the card. I call it my therapy and it might not be cheaper than a shrink, but it’s so much more fun and relaxing to be creative than to just sit and talk to someone. And as a bonus I get the chance to sell my cards to friends and colleagues so perhaps it is cheaper than a shrink after all.
